Martin Ford has been a member of Aberdeenshire Council since 1999. From 1999 until 2007, he represented Newmachar and Fintray. Since 2007, he has been one of the three councillors for the East Garioch ward. At various times, Martin has chaired Aberdeenshire Council’s Scrutiny and Audit Committee, Infrastructure Services Committee and Garioch Area Committee. Although the only Green councillor in Aberdeenshire, Martin and Democratic Independent councillor Paul Johnston work together as a group on the Council.



Nigel Bagshaw represents Inverleith ward on Edinburgh City Council. Nigel has lived in the ward with his wife and three children for 18 years. Nigel came to Edinburgh in 1982 and works as a freelance German and Polish translator for the European Union.


Chas Booth is our Green Councillor in Leith. Chas has lived in Leith for more than 5 years with his wife and two young children. He works in Leith as a fuel poverty campaigner and is a volunteer with Greener Leith, where he led efforts to bring a community-owned wind turbine to Seafield.


Steve Burgess represents Southside/Newington Ward on Edinburgh City Council and is the head of the Green Group on the council. Before being elected, Steve was a research scientist at Edinburgh University and latterly former Head of Research for Green Members of the Scottish Parliament.


Gavin Corbett is the Green Councillor for Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart Ward on Edinburgh City Council. Gavin has lived in the area for 20 years, with his wife and two young sons. An active local campaigner, he has been a community councillor, chair of his son’s local school, and main founder of Shandon Local Food Group.


Melanie Main represents Meadows & Morningside ward on Edinburgh City Council. Melanie has lived in and around the area for over 30 years. She attended James Gillepsies’ and Edinburgh University. She lives locally with her husband and daughter and has been a community councillor in Marchmont for 8 years, serving as Treasurer, Chair and Planning Officer.



Dr Nina Baker has had a varied career as a merchant navy deck officer, research engineer and now as a part time university administrator. Married with two teenaged children, she has been in the Greens for over 22 years and takes a particular interest in recycling and food issues. She is councillor in the multimember ward of Anderston and City in Glasgow.


Martin is the Green Councillor for Partick West, and also works as community psychiatrist in the NHS. He represents the Greens on the Council’s Executive Committee, and on the Children and Families committee.


She has experience gained from employment in the Voluntary Sector and was first elected to the city council to represent the Hillhead ward in 2007. She is convenor of the Council’s Energy Working Group. She also serves on the Executive Committee and the Licensing & Regulatory Committee. Martha first moved to the area in 1988 as a student and now, lives at St. George’s Cross. She takes particular interest in the sustainable development, planning, heritage, recycling and works closely with residents and community organisations in the area.


Kieran has had a varied career in Building Services Engineering and as an IT Technician prior to becoming a Councillor for Canal Ward. The Canal ward offers the contrast of the leafy North Kelvin to more neglected areas such as Possilpark. His interests include web design, desktop publishing and alternative energy.



Ian Baxter represents the Bonnyrigg ward on Midlothian Council. He has lived with his wife Karen in the ward for 33 years and they have three sons. Before becoming a councillor, Ian worked for 30 years in IT for an Edinburgh based bank before becoming as a self-employed bookkeeper.



Mark is the first ever Green Party representative to be elected to Stirling Council. This is his second elected office having previously served as an MSP for Mid-Scotland and Fife between 2003-2007.

Away from politics he has worked in fields as diverse as renewable energy, community development, farming and conservation. He is married with two sons and lives near Doune and enjoys cycling when time allows.
