No deals with Reform: Voting Green is only way to lock out far right

It is crucial that Reform plays no role in shaping the next Scottish government, say the Scottish Greens.
The warning comes amidst claims that Scottish Labour has approached Reform to do a deal. This comes only weeks after Labour sources briefed the media that their route to power is based on Reform MSPs voting for Anas Sarwar to be the next First Minister.
The Greens have urged Scottish voters to reject the politics of division, scapegoating and fear, and choose a future based on fairness, compassion and hope.
Party co-leader Gillian Mackay said:
“Any government that relied on Reform to get into power would be a disaster for Scotland.
“It will be no surprise to anyone that the Greens would never do any kind of deal with Reform under any circumstances and could never back any government that was dependent on them in any way. Our politics are the exact opposite of theirs.
“We hope that all parties will make the same commitment and firmly rule it out.
“Labour supporters across the country would be shocked if they did any deals with a party like Reform or relied on the votes of Reform MSPs to take power.
“In council chambers across the country we have already seen Labour working with the Tories, but any deal with Reform would be an even greater betrayal.
“The discussion that took place on Channel 4 last night was a bleak reminder of how the nasty and divisive politics of parties like Reform can drag the whole debate into the gutter.
“The cost of living crisis was not created by migrants or refugees. It has been made many times worse by years of Westminster failure, a disastrous Brexit that Scotland opposed and an economic system that puts profit before people.
“The best way to ensure Reform is locked out of power and influence is a vote for the Scottish Greens on May 7th.”
