A fairer, greener and independent Scotland is in reach

Record number of Scottish Green MSPs crucial to securing pro-independence majority.

An analysis of the national polls undertaken over the last 12 months makes clear that Scottish Green MSPs are crucial to ensuring a pro-independence majority in parliament.

Using projections from the Devolved Elections website for the 23 national polls undertaken over the last 12 months, only one has shown a pro-union majority and only 2 have shown an SNP majority, with 20 showing a pro-independence majority that is dependent on Green MSPs.

Party co-leader Gillian Mackay said:

“The polling has been clear for months. The best way to secure a pro-independence majority and lock out the Tories and Reform is by electing more Green MSPs than ever.

“Independence is far bigger than any one party, and always will be. That’s why we need to work together if we are to deliver it.

“Yet the SNP is trying to tell people that it is only their MSPs that count while trying to encourage Green voters to hold their nose and use their regional peach ballot votes on them.

“It is totally counterproductive and plays right into Westminster’s hands. We shouldn’t be setting up even more barriers for ourselves or implying that some votes matter more than others.

“Independence is and always will be right at the heart of our vision of a fairer, greener Scotland with the full powers that we need to tackle the cost of living crisis and protect our environment.

“Every vote for the Scottish Greens on May 7th is a clear and unambiguous vote for Scotland to take our future into our own hands.”

Gillian added:

“The stakes couldn’t be higher. If we lose our pro-independence majority or end up with a Labour-led government that is reliant on Reform in any way it would have terrible consequences.

“I don’t want Lord Offord and his wealthy friends calling the shots or squeezing concessions out of Labour. The best way we can avoid it is with the biggest possible pro-independence majority and a record number of Green MSPs who will stand up to them.”
