New poll shows Scottish Greens overtaking Labour

Hannah Spencer’s historic by-election result in Gorton and Denton is a sign of things to come for Scottish Labour this May, says Scottish Green Co-leader Gillian Mackay.
Gillian's comments come as new Scottish Election Survey polling from YouGov shows Labour coming 4th behind the Greens.
Gillian said:
“All across our country people are desperate for change and an end to the broken politics of Westminster.
“From his decision to arm and support Israel’s genocide against Gaza, to the cruel cuts and racist anti-migrant policies he has introduced, Keir Starmer has been a crushing disappointment on every front. It has been more of the same failed policies being repackaged in a red rosette.
“Despite a relentlessly nasty campaign against her, Hannah and her team offered a bold and positive alternative. To win a seat in such a Labour stronghold is a major achievement.
“I visited the constituency during the campaign and saw the energy, enthusiasm and hope that she inspired.
“This can be a turning point. Labour threw everything but the kitchen sink at this by-election and came a distant third.
“Scotland deserves so much better than Keir Starmer, Anas Sarwar and a Labour Party that has already run out of steam after only 18 months in office.
“A lot of people who have always voted Labour no longer feel the party speaks for them, and they are looking for someone who will represent them and fight to make their lives better.
“That's why we aren’t simply looking to challenge Labour, we want to beat them and replace them.
“With more people joining us every day we are on course for a record election result. Every time I knock on doors I am meeting people who are planning to vote Green for the first time.
“The result in Gorton and Denton wasn't a fluke or an accident, it was a sign of what's coming for Labour this May.”
