We have the chance to introduce protections for some of Scotland’s most threatened animals, including the iconic Red Squirrel.

Our nature is what makes Scotland so unique, and our native animals are a core part of why many people choose to visit Scotland every year.

After decades of decline, sightings of Red Squirrels are finally increasing and conservation work has been undertaken to improve the population. However, that progress has been fragile, and we need to do more to ensure the survival of these wonderful animals.

The Scottish Greens will be introducing an amendment to the upcoming Natural Environment Bill to ensure Scotland’s red squirrels can thrive, and that there are plans in place to expand their population.

Join our calls for the Scottish Government to introduce targets to protect and expand the Red Squirrel population in Scotland. As one of Scotland's native animals, it is crucial that we ensure their survival.
