MSP calls for Menzies Distribution to protect and support staff
Scottish Greens MSP Ariane Burgess has called on Menzies Distribution to work with trade unions to protect workers. The call comes after almost 300 redundancies were announced at Menzies Parcels across the Highlands, Islands, Argyll and Aberdeenshire.
Highlands and Islands MSP, Ariane Burgess, said: “This is devastating news for workers and their families, and parent group Menzies Distribution must now work with them and their trade union to protect and support their staff.
“This announcement just a couple of weeks after Christmas could not have come at a worse time. It’s a time when household finances are stretched and staff need certainty around their future employment.
“Urgent talks must now take place to ensure that alternative jobs are found within the company and redeployment is a real and realistic option for workers.”
