Further education should be accessible to all

The Scottish Greens today (25 Aug) highlighted an Audit Scotland's report into Scotland's college sector, showing that student numbers overall have decreased, with a steep decline in part-time learning.

The report shows the biggest reductions are among women and people aged over 25.

Ross Greer MSP, Education spokesperson for the Scottish Greens, said:

"This report confirms what those of us who opposed college cuts said would happen, that women and older learners would suffer from the Scottish Government's decision to do away with many part-time courses. Further education should be accessible to all if we are to create a fair society and a thriving economy.

"It's not too late for Scottish Ministers to rethink their approach."
