‘Change is coming’ new Green leaders warn polluters and super-rich

The days of a wealthy few benefiting from a rigged system are numbered, say new Scottish Green Co-leaders Gillian Mackay and Ross Greer.
The pair, who were elected this week, have warned Scotland’s super-rich, greedy landlords and polluting corporations that change is coming and that they will be forced to change their ways and pay their fair share.
With the next Scottish election only nine months away, Gillian and Ross have committed to present the party's most bold, ambitious and transformative manifesto to date.
Ross said:
“So many people across the country are struggling. And they're rightly angry at a political system which has failed them. They can see a wealthy few who have made themselves even richer while most people’s lives have got harder.
“Our message to the big polluters, the super-rich and greedy landlords is that their days of hoarding this country’s wealth are numbered. We will redistribute wealth and power, taking it from those who have rigged the system in their favour and giving it to people and communities across Scotland.
“With only nine months until the next Scottish election, we will be offering our most bold and ambitious vision to date, focused on helping people save money and tackling the climate emergency. Only the Scottish Greens can offer that change.”
Gillian said:
“I'm from Grangemouth, where people have seen the destructive impact of corporate greed first hand.
“Our community has been scarred by a billionaire who would rather play with his football team than invest in our town, and betrayed by a Labour government that promised change and delivered more of the same.
“We are on the side of the workers, the parents and people who are struggling every day while the Jim Ratcliffe’s of this world get richer.
“With the biggest expansion of free school meals, free bus travel for young people and scrapping peak rail fares, the Scottish Greens are already improving the lives of millions of people. But we can and will go further.
“Change is coming. With a new generation of leadership, only the Scottish Greens will deliver the transformation that Scotland needs.”
