ABERDEENSHIRE COUNCIL CHANGES: GREENS PRAISE CONSTRUCTIVE ROLE
Following today's change of administration at Aberdeenshire Council, Scottish Green Party co-convener Patrick Harvie MSP said:
"The changes in Aberdeenshire show the constructive role Scottish Greens play at all levels in politics. The Confidence and Supply arrangement struck between the new Progressive coalition and Green councillor Martin Ford and his democratic independent colleague Paul Johnston will enable the local authority to pursue better policies and protect frontline services.
"Supporting local communities is key to this arrangement, and this will always be a core principle of Green councillors. By securing agreement that the transition to a low carbon economy should be a priority for economic development in Aberdeenshire, Martin and Paul are bringing long-term thinking that is sorely needed in local government."
