End rip-off rents. Add your voice.

Homes must be for people, not profit

Rent is skyrocketing. With hikes of up to 105% since 2010, we're being forced to spend more and more, reducing our standard of living and pushing many into poverty and even homelessness.

But now we have a chance to change that.

Last year Scottish Greens introduced legislation to create the first permanent system of private rent controls for more than 35 years. This would severely constrain rent increases, with independent analysis showing that had these been in place since 2019 someone renting a two-bedroom property in Lothian would now be £272 a month better off.

But the Scottish Government has blocked our attempts to link rent rises to wage rises. And they’ve refused to consider stricter rent controls that would see rents actually come down.

The landlord lobby is very strong. So we need your help.

Please tell the housing minister, Paul McLennan that he must act to stop rip-off rents, and support measures that will ensure rent hikes don’t outstrip wage rises.
