In Tranent, Wallyford & Macmerry, the Greens will stand for the first time. Education and social care support worker Marnie Stirling will contest the seat.

Originally from Dundee, Marnie moved to Tranent in 2020 and she will campaign on poverty and social inequality, which includes education, training and social care.

Outside of work and politics, Marnie crochets clothes, accessories and soft furnishings, and also cross stitch items from scrap fabrics - as well as spending a lot of time growing a variety of plants, fruits and vegetables in her garden.

Marnie said:

East Lothian is beautiful part of the world to live and work, but it is not without its challenges. Our Green candidates are brimming with ideas to transform East Lothian and deliver real positive change.
