Glen is currently a full-time carer having previously spent 20 years in financial services in press and communications roles with Scottish Widows, Lloyds TSB Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group. He also spent over two years based in The Hague where he worked with the European Patent Office. He speaks French, German, Dutch & Spanish.
Whilst he lives in Kirkcaldy, he is a familiar face in Glenrothes where he is Vice President of Glenrothes Amateur Musical Association (GAMA) and a regular on stage at the Rothes Halls. Glen is also a long-standing member of the Markinch Musical Society and Leslie Amateur Dramatic Club. He has also participated in two concert tours to Böblingen as part of the Glenrothes twin town partnership.
He prides himself on the work GAMA does in the community with youngsters through GAMA Youth and with the elderly through their partnership with Age Concern Glenrothes.
Community engagement and investment are strong motivators for Glen alongside transportation, the environment, keeping it local and anti-austerity
Though always very interested in politics, it was in the run-up to the Scottish Referendum in 2014 that Glen decided to become more politically active and join the Scottish Green Party.
Glen says:
"The Greens now have a stronger voice in Holyrood and it is time that our local councils also reflect the views of Green supporters. By standing for council, I want to give Fifers a Green option on the ballot paper and help grow our presence across the Kingdom.
Having worked for three years whilst in my twenties in the European Patent Office in the Netherlands, I remain a keen supporter of keeping Scotland in the EU. I speak French, German and Dutch and am currently learning Spanish. I believe Fife's businesses and our tourism sector stand to gain from firm links with Europe."
