Trump's US is acting as a rogue state

The UK’s disgraceful fence-sitting on Donald Trump’s coup in Venezuela shows a total contempt for international law and gives an endorsement for similar attacks on sovereign governments, say the Scottish Greens.
The party’s external affairs spokesperson, Patrick Harvie, said:
“Donald Trump’s coup was an illegal and immoral attack on Venezuela and its sovereignty.
“The UK government’s fence sitting and weasel words have been disgraceful. What is the point of having a human rights lawyer as Prime Minister if he can’t even condemn a far right US government when it launches a coup against an oil-rich nation?
“This is not about drugs or democracy. It is about Trump distracting from other issues and trying to seize another country’s resources.
“This kind of imperialism cannot be allowed to stand. All governments who care about national rights and self-determination should be clear in their condemnation and oppose the plunder and asset stripping that Trump has planned.
“The US is acting as a rogue state, and Trump is treating the world as a playground for his wealthy friends and donors. It will embolden other states to use unchecked military power for their own ends. We need international law, not gangsterism.”
