Solidarity is not a crime

Responding to the High Court ruling that the proscription of Palestine Action was unlawful, Scottish Green MSP Maggie Chapman has welcomed the ruling and called for the Home Secretary to resign.
Maggie said:
“This is a fantastic result. It is a crucial ruling for democracy. Solidarity is not a crime.
“The UK government's decision to list Palestine Action as a terrorist group was cynical, authoritarian and completely unjustified.
“Labour Ministers chose to arm and support Israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza while criminalising those who challenged them.
“The sight of protesters being dragged away by the police for waving banners or holding pieces of card should shame every MP who backed this brutal decision.
“It should not take a legal action brought by campaigners to force the government to follow its own laws.
“The illegal and immoral proscription must be lifted immediately.
“All those arrested and charged for holding placards, wearing t-shirts or otherwise peacefully supporting Palestine Action must be fully cleared. And the Home Secretary should resign for what she has put people through.”
