Commenting on reports that Greenpeace has launched a judicial review to challenge the UK Government’s approval of the jackdaw gas field, Scottish Greens energy and climate spokesperson Mark Ruskell MSP said:

“This Tory government’s outrageous decision to double down on oil and gas at the height of a climate emergency is utterly irresponsible, and completely unnecessary given Scotland’s massive renewable energy potential.

“From Brexit to the climate crisis it seems the UK Government is wilfully breaking the law at every opportunity.

“So, I very much welcome Greenpeace’s decision to challenge this dangerous policy in court and will follow proceedings with great interest.”
