Responding to the Prime Minister’s address this evening, Scottish Greens Co-Leader Patrick Harvie MSP said: 

“The Prime Minister’s decision to effectively rip up the four nations response to Covid19 is reckless. His newly adopted slogan is vague and risks muddying the waters at a time when clarity is required to save lives.  

“Last week the UK claimed the unenviable position of having the highest number of Covid19 deaths in Europe. The UK Government’s handling of this crisis so far has been catastrophic, and the confusion caused by the Prime Minister’s latest comments could very well undermine key public health advice.”

Scottish Greens Co-Leader Patrick Harvie MSP today welcomed a commitment from the Scottish Government to deliver a Scottish job guarantee but warned that greater investment would be required if it was to deliver for every young person in Scotland. 

Commenting on the Economy Secretary’s response to the Advisory Group on Economic Recovery report and the Enterprise and Skills Strategic Board report Mr Harvie cautioned that the Scottish Government’s position was ‘underwhelming’.

Responding to the installation by Boris Johnson of Douglas Ross as leader of the Conservatives in Scotland, Scottish Greens Co-Leader Patrick Harvie MSP said: 

“Just months ago, the Scottish Tories were maintaining the pretence that they were something different from the extremist No-Deal Brexiteers of the Boris Johnson camp. Today the installation of Douglas Ross as their part time, absentee leader without even asking their members confirms that there isn’t a hint of difference between them.
