Recommendations for Sick Children’s & St John's must be acted upon
Responding to an expert review recommending the retention of the paediatric ward at St John's Hospital in Livingston and additional paediatric consultants for the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, Alison Johnstone, Health spokesperson for the Scottish Greens and MSP for Lothian, said:
“This report vindicates what many local people have said over the years about St John’s children’s ward, and I urge NHS Lothian and the Scottish Government to ensure the ward is retained and properly staffed. I also want assurances that the recommendation for additional staff at the Sick Children’s Hospital in Edinburgh is acted upon. There are growing pressures on these services and they must be met rather than ducked.”
