Keir Starmer's time is up.

It shouldn't be advisors resigning, it should be the PM.

Commenting on the resignation of Keir Starmer’s chief strategist, Scottish Green Co-leader Gillian Mackay said:

“The wheels have come off Keir Starmer’s government and he is lurching from one self-inflicted crisis to another.

“The responsibility for the chaos lies with the Prime Minister, and no amount of advisors resigning will change this.

“There is no doubt that Morgan McSweeney made some bad calls and terrible judgments. But nobody forced the Prime Minister to accept his disastrous advice.

“From cutting winter fuel payments and pushing pensioners into poverty, to slashing support for disabled people, arming Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and appointing Peter Mandelson — these were the Prime Minister’s decisions, backed by his MPs.

“In just 18 months, Starmer has turned promises of change into the same sleaze and scandal that defined the Tories he replaced.

“Swapping advisers won’t fix a cruel and incompetent government led by a Prime Minister who keeps making catastrophic choices.

“The next resignation shouldn’t be a strategist. It should be the PM.”
