If Braverman has abused her power then she must resign

If Suella Braverman had abused her position and her power then she must resign.

If the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, has abused her power and her position then she must resign, say the Scottish Greens.

The Prime Minister is reported to be consulting an ethics adviser about allegations that the Home Secretary lobbied civil servants for help after being caught speeding.

The Scottish Greens justice spokesperson, Maggie Chapman MSP, said:

“This is a far bigger question than whether or not the Home Secretary was speeding. It is about the misuse of power. It is about what she appears to have done afterwards and what she asked others to do on her behalf.

“It is not the first time that the Home Secretary’s integrity has come into question. It is only seven months since she was last forced to leave office in disgrace before being welcomed back days later by Rishi Sunak - calling his judgement into question too.

“There must be a full and thorough investigation, and if Suella Braverman is found to have abused her power then she must resign.

“This is yet another stage in the endless Tory civil war, and another shameful saga from a cruel and incompetent government that punishes marginalised communities while its Ministers act like rules don’t apply to them.”
