Hands off our football buses campaign launched by Scottish Greens

We need to stop the UK government's draconian proposals against football fans.

Scottish Greens MSP Gillian Mackay is stepping up demands for UK Government officials to leave fans alone and abandon draconian plans to crack down on match-day buses run by football supporters.

She has launched an online campaign demanding UK transport chiefs scrap their bid to impose draconian checks and rules on travelling fans visiting grounds.

Now she is urging supporters of clubs across the country to show their opposition to the proposed new rules by signing the consultation so officials understand the nationwide anger against the controversial move.

Ms Mackay said:

“The UK Government must abandon this attack on the supporters, on coach companies and the many local businesses who will suffer if this is allowed to go ahead.

“I’m calling on all supporters, whatever the colour of their scarves and flags, to get behind my campaign and tell the UK Government loud and clear: ‘You don’t know what you’re doing’.

“Football fans, especially travelling supporters, deserve better than this. The Scottish Greens aim to ensure they are given the respect they deserve.”
