Greens will take a record number of eleven places on Holyrood committees

Following tonight's vote in Parliament, confirming that Greens will take a record number of eleven places on Holyrood committees, Scottish Green MSPs are pledging to provide constructive scrutiny of legislation.

The committee places being taken by the six-strong group of Green MSPs are as follows:

John Finnie (Highlands & Islands MSP):
Justice Committee; Rural Economy & Connectivity Committee.

Ross Greer (West of Scotland MSP):
European & External Relations Committee; Education & Skills Committee.

Patrick Harvie (Glasgow MSP):
Finance Committee; Standards, Procedures & Public Appointments Committee.

Alison Johnstone (Lothian MSP):
Health & Sport Committee; Social Security Committee.

Mark Ruskell (Mid Scotland & Fife MSP):
Environment, Climate Change & Land Reform Committee.

Andy Wightman (Lothian MSP):
Economy, Jobs and Fair Work Committee; Local Government & Communities Committee.

Patrick Harvie MSP, Co-convener of the Scottish Greens, said:

"With these appointments the new Green team at Holyrood is ready to engage constructively with legislation and committee inquiries. We campaigned for a bolder Holyrood and intend to deliver the robust parliamentary scrutiny that Scotland deserves.

"With new tax and social security powers, continued demand for land reform, and the challenges of improving health and education, it's vital that Green voices are heard at every stage of the parliamentary process."
