Greens will deliver for people and planet

With two months until the Holyrood election, Scottish Green co-leader Gillian Mackay has promised her party will bring hope back to politics and build a Scotland that works for people and planet.
Having already unveiled policies to introduce free bus travel for everyone in Scotland and oversee the biggest expansion of free childcare for a generation, the Scottish Greens will deliver the lasting change that households and families badly need.
Gillian said:
“So many people across Scotland are feeling scunnered with a system that has let them down.
“We had 14 years of Tory governments that we didn’t vote for and now we have a Labour government that has carried on their worst policies while arming Israel’s genocide against Palestinians.
“We need to be pushing devolution to its limits until we can secure the powers of a normal independent country, but the SNP has refused to make the change that Scotland needs.
“The Scottish Greens will have a relentless focus on lowering the cost of living, with free bus travel for everyone and the biggest expansion of funded childcare for a generation. We’re not afraid to say who will pay for it - it will be the richest people.
“In the last five years alone the Scottish Greens have introduced free bus travel for young people, scrapped peak rail fares, introduced powers to stop rent hikes and ended school meal debt.
“The polls show that we are on course to secure a record number of MSPs, which will allow us to do even more for people and planet and deliver the lasting change that households and families badly need.”
