Greens welcome vaccine progress
Welcoming the news that the first COVID-19 vaccine has been approved by the MHRA, Scottish Greens co-leader Patrick Harvie MSP said:
“It is hugely encouraging that the first COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for use by the medicines regulator.
“The last ten months have been challenging for everyone and this progress offers some much-needed light at the end of the tunnel. I am immensely grateful to the researchers and the trial volunteers who made this possible.
“I’d urge the Scottish Government to come before parliament at the earliest opportunity to update MSPs and the public about exactly how it will facilitate the rollout of this vaccine.
“This is the good news we’ve all been waiting for and, while we’ll need to be patient and continue to follow restrictions for the next few months, it is promising that an end to this pandemic in now in sight.”
