Scottish Greens MSP Andy Wightman has this afternoon called on the Scottish Government to establish a bursary scheme for student paramedics.

Speaking at First Minister’s Questions Mr Wightman highlighted the Pay Student Paramedics campaign, urging the First Minister to establish a bursary similar to that available to student nurses.

Andy Wightman MSP said:

“Paramedics are highly skilled medical professionals who we rely on at times of crisis. Clearly, they should be valued as such, which means that adequate support must be provided while they undertake their training.

“I’m pleased that the First Minister indicated in response to my question that the Scottish Government will consider introducing a paramedic bursary. I urge the government to do so urgently.”
