Finnie comments on Commission on Parliamentary Reform

John Finnie MSP, the Scottish Greens' representative on the Commission on Parliamentary Reform, today (20 June) commented on the publication of the commission's recommendations.

Mr Finnie said:

“New devolved powers are already stretching Holyrood’s capacity, and changes to the timing of the UK Budget have squeezed the space available to analyse Scottish Government spending proposals. Now we have to add to that mix the huge threat to our legal protections from a Tory-driven Brexit. It’s therefore vital that our Parliament has the flexibility, staff and genuine public involvement to properly scrutinise any changes.

“It’s welcome that the Commission recognises the need for greater diversity at Holyrood, and the Scottish Greens have strong commitments to gender balanced candidate lists.”
