Backing the fight for compensation in Dundee and Angus’s RAAC crisis

North East Scotland region MSP Maggie Chapman comments on Dundee's RAAC crisis

According to data from the UK RAAC Campaign Group, Dundee has more RAAC affected buildings than any other council area in Scotland, while many properties in Angus also use the potentially unsafe material, leaving homeowners and tenants in agonising limbo.

Local campaigners are fighting for help and answers, noting the frightening precedent of Aberdeen , where hundreds have seen their homes demolished.

Maggie Chapman, MSP, says: “in my conversations with constituents in both Dundee and Aberdeen, I keep hearing about RAAC as one of people’s major concerns. Imagine the level of anxiety you would feel learning that your house was constructed from an unsafe material or, even worse, to suddenly learn that it was to be demolished. It is vital that local councils and Government work together to ensure that people can remain safe and secure in their own homes. That’s why Greens in the Scottish Parliament are working to ensure that the Scottish Government’s new housing bill provides justice and guarantees of housing quality. ”
