Auditor warns over finances at Scottish Police Authority & Police Scotland

John Finnie MSP, Justice spokesperson for the Scottish Greens, today highlighted yet another report from the Auditor General warning of weak financial management at the Scottish Police Authority and Police Scotland.

John said:

"It's deeply concerning that this is the third consecutive year that the Auditor General has highlighted serious issues relating to the finances of the Scottish Police Authority and Police Scotland. It's clear that there is a lack of effective financial leadership in these organisations, and this can only add to a loss of public confidence.

"It's not acceptable that three years after Police Scotland and the SPA were formed, we're still hearing of inaccurate records and poor financial management. Given the projected overspend of £17.5m this year and a funding gap of almost £200million in the next four years, it's essential that the SPA get a grip. As a member of Holyrood's Justice Committee I will continue to scrutinise this important issue."
