A lack of respect for babies’ remains
Responding to publication of Dame Elish Angiolini's report into infant cremations, which finds that babies were cremated along with unrelated adults over many years at Aberdeen Crematorium, John Finnie MSP, Justice spokesperson for the Scottish Greens, said:
“Dame Elish’s report highlights 'unethical and abhorrent practices', which will understandably compound the grief of parents and loved ones. A lack of respect for babies’ remains lies is at the heart of what has been exposed and merits an unreserved apology from Aberdeen City Council.
“Looking to the future, we are reassured that the legislation brought forward will address the concerns from Aberdeen and other locations highlighted to Lord Bonomy.”
