Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum pro rata 

Hours: 15 per week. Please note, the Scottish Greens Parliamentary Group operates a four-day working week. This role constitutes 0.5 of a full time role. Working hours would be concentrated around the parliamentary business days of Tues - Thurs, with some flexibility.  

Location: The Scottish Parliament, with occasional home working option. 

Purpose of this role: To support the Scottish Greens Parliamentary Group MSPs and the central staff team who manage parliamentary business, provide research support, and deliver communications operations to the group. Reporting to the Group Co-ordination Manager, this job also involves working closely with the Chief of Staff and staff across MSP offices to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the Group.

Responsibilities 

  • Carrying out general office administration to support the group's MSPs in their parliamentary business. 
  • Supporting the Group Co-ordination Manager in the co-ordination of group parliamentary business. 
  • Maintaining group records and compliance with data protection. 
  • Providing administrative and secretarial support to the group, including minuting group meetings. 
  • Booking rooms for group meetings and circulating minutes, agendas, and actions for the group. 
  • Support the Group Co-ordination Manager and Chief of Staff in the management of group finances, including processing invoices, liaising with Parliament officials and party staff. 
  • General support to the group's MSPs, central group staff team, and Group Co-ordination manager as required. 

Requirements  

  • Have excellent written, verbal and IT skills with accuracy and attention to detail.  
  • Be empathetic, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across a number of offices and teams.  
  • Be confident in managing budgets for staff resources and office provisions.   
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach, being able to use good judgement on own initiative.  
  • Be well organised, with the ability to prioritise competing workloads.
