Topher Dawson has  lived in Wester Ross for 42 years, driven the Westerbus, built boats, oars, houses, a wooden car, and taught mathematics in Ullapool High School for 15 years. He and his wife Jan have brought up their children here, looked after their parents here, and now have a lovely grand-daughter in the USA.

Locally, he’s been promoting coastal rowing, and Lochcarron, Applecross, Shieldaig, Gairloch, Loch Ewe, Ullapool, Coigach, Lochinver and Kinlochbervie all have or are building skiffs.

Topher says:

“As I visit Community Councils, I see that Highland Council needs to make it simpler for local contractors to run small local services like clearing single track roads and providing local school transport.

“I’m enthusiastic about a better future for an Independent Scotland, the Highlands, and the West coast, and I hope to be able to represent you as a Highland Councillor.”
