Chris Ballance has only recently moved to the area, but is no stranger here, having been visiting relatives in Beauly for very many years. He comes here from rural Dumfries-shire, where he set up and ran the multi award-winning social enterprise Moffat CAN, creating green sector jobs for people with barriers to employment. Chris was a Green MSP in Holyrood from 2003-7.

He and his wife Alis live in Drumnadrochit, and their children attend Glenurquhart Primary School.

Chris says:

“Residents I’ve been speaking with find Highland Council too secretive. Too often decisions are taken behind closed doors. I want to listen to local opinions so as to work constructively towards an open and representative Council. If elected I will hold regular surgeries across the ward.

“I want the Council to work collaboratively with individuals and groups to build our long-term sustainable prosperity – based on protecting and enhancing our magnificent natural environment.”
