Highland Hustings
Campaigning as a regional candidate for Highlands and Islands is a bit different from campaigning anywhere else. The region is the size of Belgium (as I may have mentioned before), it covers six local authorities and includes most of Scotland's inhabited islands. The last time I counted there were 26 local newspapers not including online or community newsletters. It has places that speak English, places that speak Gaelic and places that speak various dialects of Scots. It's huge, and it's varied, and the issues are diverse.
