#activeSGP News - North West Sub-branch

Hello North West!

You may have received a couple of e-mails from me already, but our monthly newsletter seems like the best place to formally introduce myself. I’ll be taking over NW communications from Anna Crow until we elect new office bearers in June. Anna worked extremely hard on both Glasgow and NW communications over the past while, and we're all grateful for that.

Holyrood Campaign

There are only ten weeks to go until the election, so we need as much help as possible to get both Patrick and Zara elected as Glasgow’s Green MSPs. There are loads of different ways for you to get involved, and any time that you can spare – even as much as a couple of hours for one evening – will be greatly appreciated.

Scheduled Campaigning; I’ve attached our full campaign calendar to the end of this e-mail, which will be updated will solid dates and times every two weeks. Scheduled events are a great way to get involved with the sub branch, as we always make sure you have some company. Our plan for the next few weeks is;

18:30, Wednesday 24th of February – Leaflet delivery, meeting at Esquire House on Great Western Road, just by Anniesland train station

11:00 Saturday 27th of February – Kelvin Action Day (see Facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/1542042266094116/)

18:30, Wednesday 2nd of March – Leaflet delivery/canvassing, meeting at St Louis Cafe on Dumbarton Road, in Thornwood. If you come along to this one, why not join the social afterwards?

18:30, Wednesday 9th of March – Leaflet delivery/canvassing, meeting at the Lismore on Dumbarton Road, just along from Partick Cross.

11:00, Saturday 12th of March – Action day, meeting at the Lismore as well.

Campaigning in your own time; If you can’t make our scheduled campaign sessions but have some other time you can help out, we can set you up with leaflet runs to do when you’re able. Just get in touch with Ken (details on the calendar)

Phonerounds; We’ve had a dedicated bunch getting in touch with members by phone this month. Lots of members are getting active as a result, and our sub branch is actually the leader in getting new members on board this way! If calling people up and having a wee natter is your cup of tea, then you can again contact Ken for details.

Crowdfunder; To run the best campaign possible, we need funds. Unlike other parties, we don’t have any big donors we can rely on, just our members. If you have the means to do so, please donate to our Glasgow crowdfunder and share it on social media.

Social

We have a social fundraiser planned for Wednessday 2nd of March, from 18:00 to midnight at La Bodega, 1120 South Street. Come along for as long as you like to meet other local members and help raise some money – cost is any donation you’re comfortable with.

Next Meeting

Our meeting this month is at 19:00 on Monday the 29th of February in The Annexe in Partick. The party officially launched the national campaign here in Glasgow earlier this month, so we’ll be having a look at the key messages that were unveiled that day and discussing how we feel about them, what might work best, and how we can best communicate them and make them relevant to voters in our area.

The agenda for this month and the minutes for last month’s meeting are available on Greentalk. Please also be aware our March meeting will be a week earlier so it doesn’t fall on Easter Monday.

The next newsletter will go out a week before our March meeting, so if you have anything you’d like included then just let me know by the 14th of March.

All the best,
