The Future of Scotland's Centres of Excellence
7 November, 2017 - 15:03
I am delighted that the Council's proposals to close the City of Edinburgh Music School have been thrown out at this morning's meeting of the Finance and Resources Committee. Congratulatiosn to everyone involved in the campaign to save one of Scotland's outstanding Centres of Excellence.
However, the fact that the Council saw fit to bring this proposal in the first place suggests to me that the Scottish Government should do more to make very clear the basis upon which funding is provided to Councils to support the Centres of Excellence network.
I have therefore written today to the Cabinet Secretary for Education to ask to meet him and his officials to discuss this matter. A copy of my letter is linked below.
