When Donald Trump visited Scotland, we united to say 'No' to his racist, anti-immigrant, fear-mongering politics.
However, your tax money is currently being used by Scottish council pension funds to invest around £65million in companies linked to Donald Trump's detention camps where refugees are held, with children being seperated from their parents and kept in cages.
You can read the full story on the Sunday Post website.
For example, both Lothian Pension Fund (LPF) and Strathclyde Pension Fund (SPF) invest in General Dynamics which, according to Reuters and others*, processes refugee children. US investors Blackrock and Vanguard are among the largest shareholders in General Dynamics. Strathclyde Pension Fund, Falkirk Pension Fund and North East Scotland Pension Fund all invest in Blackrock.
Furthermore, Scottish council funds also invest indirectly with The Geo Group which runs 11 immigration detention centres. The firm is currently being sued over slave labour claims and it funded Trump's election campaign.
Scotland gave a clear message that Donald Trump and his politics of hate were not welcome here, so we think it is totally wrong that our councils should be helping to fund his shameful detention centres. Instead, this money should be invested in ethically sound funds which promote social justice and the environment.
If you agree, please sign and share our petiton to tell Scottish councils to "Stop Funding Trump".
