MSP Hails Festive Generosity

Local Green MSP Ross Greer has thanked scores of people and businesses for their generosity after a charity collection drew a massive response.

Ross asked for donations of Christmas gifts to be brought to his office in Milngavie to be passed on to East Dunbartonshire Womens Aid, in order for them to be given to women and their children who have been affected by domestic abuse, many of whom are fleeing an abusive partner.

Greer commented:
“The response exceeded all expectations. Our office was open all day and people never stopped dropping off bags full of toys and gifts. I’d like to thank everyone who contributed. The range and quality of the gifts was just amazing. I’d also like to thank local businesses for their incredibly generous donations. Bearsden Cross Church have organised a Christmas gift collection for Womens’ Aid over many years now, so it was great to combine our collection with theirs & give the team at EDWA a really substantial selection of toys & gifts to collect.

“Christmas is a particularly difficult time for women and children affected by domestic abuse, who can often be isolated or traumatised by what they’ve been through. I hope that donations will go some way to making things easier.”
