The Postal ballots hit the doormats of Glasgow this weekend and we are targeting key areas of the city to hand-deliver a letter from Patrick Harvie to these key voters.

Every vote counts and every volunteer and each hour of your time can make a massive difference. The difference between 1 and 2 Green MSPs for Glasgow.

If you can spare even an hour to help delvier our message of a better Scotland and a bolder Holyrood, it would be really appreciated.

Speaking ahead of this afternoon's Culture hustings at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, Zara Kitson, culture spokesperson for the Scottish Greens and MSP candidate for Glasgow, called for a halt to the imposition of new contracts at Newsquest-owned Clyde and Forth Press newspapers.

 

Newsquest took over last year and staff had until yesterday to sign a new contract or risk losing their job.

Fair Funding For Public Services

Scottish Greens today (29 March) published proposals for fairer funding for public services, by replacing the discredited Council Tax with a progressive property tax, and using new devolved powers to cut income tax for lower earners while ensuring higher earners pay a fairer share.

Responding to proposals by the SNP to leave income tax for basic, higher and additional rate payers unchanged for five whole years once Holyrood's new powers take effect next year, Patrick Harvie MSP, Finance and Economy spokesperson for the Scottish Greens, said:

"Following on from the SNP's deeply disappointing decision to let the unfair Council Tax live on in the next Parliament, today’s announcement that nobody, not even the very wealthiest, will pay a penny more in income tax is breathtaking.
